Hi, in the latest podcast, you were telling the story of Mary, who said she knew 6 months in advance when someone was gonna die. I read about yogi's who know this exact same thing in the same timeframe, they explain that about 6 months before someone dies a part of their energy leaves them. It sounds exactly like what Mary was talking about, maybe this comment helps her to understand what she is feeling, and that she doesn't have to be afraid of it, it seems to be a normal thing.

How This Site Got Started

My name is Will Pender, and when I first started this site it was for two reasons:

At first the site was never meant to go beyond being a hobby. In fact, the initial goal I had in mind for this site is that some people might send in some scary stories, and I’d post them up; that was the extent of it, but then came the podcast, and that changed everything.

I had always kept close contact with my good friend Ryan Sharpe; and though he had moved to another province, we had regular telephone contact, much of which consisted of us talking about strange paranormal stories we had come across. So it occurred to me, “how can I include Ryan?”.

I’ve often included Ryan in my creative endeavors, such as in music videos and tracks on my albums, because it’s always been fun and he’s always done a good job. So it hit me one day; “why don’t Ryan and I start a paranormal podcast that would be a part of the site?”. Basically the idea was, we’d talk like we do on the phone, and the podcast would just be a way of letting strangers be a fly on the wall during those conversations.

It started out simple enough; we told a few of our own stories, hoping that people would submit some for a podcast, but we just weren’t popular enough. So we just started making podcasts about stuff that we found interesting, such as Skinwalker Ranch. Nothing really came of it at first, so we took a big break from it.

Then one day I logged into my gmail account, and we had a ton of views and comments on our Skinwalker ranch episode, so we started up again. Things just seemed to snowball from there. We ended up getting a ton more subscribers and views than I ever anticipated, so we tried to improve our craft; there is an expectation placed on us now.

It’s grown big enough that we have interviewed some of our own hero’s in the paranormal world, and we still do. In some way’s it’s pretty unbelievable, but the bottom line is that with the rise in demand, so did the pressure to do a good show; and it became apparent that our podcast became the focal point of what Effed Up Stories is all about.

We now get a fair amount of submissions, many interesting guests, and things just keep snowballing. This is why I’ve redone the site so many times, why I remade our podcast intro video and music; people have shown they want it, so I want to give them my best.

As long as people keep showing interest, I will keep trying to improve and provide more content.

Browser Support

At this time, this site works on the latest versions of all major browsers. Here are the browsers I have tried and verified to be working:

I could not test Internet Explorer 10 at the time, but I did test Internet Explorer 9. The only issues that I’ve come across were in Internet Explorer and those issues do not affect functionality. The issues that were noted in Internet Explorer 9 are:

So this should work on any of the major browsers you choose to use. I do however recommend Google Chrome, because that is my browser of choice, and what I used the most extensively when building and testing this site.

Device Support

This is the fourth complete redesign of the site since I first built it in February 2012 (current date is March 17th 2013), and it’s built upon everything I learned in, and outside of my web development program.

I’ve designed this site to be responsive. That is to say, I designed it to scale down as far as 800 X 600 and all the way up go 1080p, even changing the layout below a certain resolution to best suite the device (such as a smart phone).

Below is a list of resolutions that have been verified to work with this site:

More will be added over time.

I have tested the site on multiple desktops, laptops, an iPhone 3, Samsung Galaxy s3, Sony playstation vita, and a Nintendo Wii U. The only issues I have encountered are listed below:

I’ve designed this site to be mobile friendly, but I obviously don’t have every device to test it on. If I come across any issues I will fix them ASAP, but the good news is that the resolutions of cell phones are constantly increasing, so the only thing left to consider (aside from browser support) will be having a user interface that works well for both a mouse, and touch, which I’ve already implemented.

Other Technology

This site makes use of HTML, CSS (some newer features of CSS3), Java, Jquery, PHP, and SQL manipulation through PHP. The only thing that should generally matter to you, the users are: Make sure your java is turned on in your browser (which it should be by default), and make sure you are using a browser new enough to understand the newer CSS rules.

This site is also using YouTube embeds for our podcasts; so if your device does not support YouTubes flash content, you will not be able to listen to the podcasts. Most mobile devices do have a YouTube app that will automatically trigger for YouTube embedded content.
